The St. Louis Cardinals plan to name 35-year-old bench coach Oliver Marmol as their new manager at a press conference Monday, The Athletic and ESPN reported Sunday night.

Marmol had a brief minor league playing career with the Cardinals before becoming a coach with the organization in 2011.
He became the big-league club's first base coach in 2017 and was moved to bench coach before the 2019 season.

Marmol will be the youngest active manager in Major League Baseball.

The Cardinals are replacing Mike Shildt, 슬롯사이트 who was fired this month after three-plus seasons in the job.

r />Louis made the postseason in each of Shildt's three full seasons as manager. In 2021, the club went 90-72 thanks to a 17-game winning streak late in the season and lost in the wild card game. Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak cited "philosophical differences" as the reason for Shildt's firing.
