Victor Hedman stole a puck in the neutral zone and scored 2:45 into overtime Tuesday night to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 3-2 win over the visiting San Jose Sharks.

The defenseman turned his theft at his own blue line into a rush the other way, then weaved through the slot and fired his 10th goal of the season to lift Tampa Bay to its seventh win in the past nine games (7-1-1).

Anthony Cirelli and Alex Killorn also scored, and goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy (25-7-4) made 19 saves as the club went to 8-1-1 against the Pacific Division.

Killorn's marker, the 161st of his career, tied him with Tyler Johnson for the fifth-most in franchise history.

High-scoring right winger Nikita Kucherov (COVID-19 protocol) missed his third consecutive game.

Logan Couture tallied his 14th goal and an assist, and Rudolfs Balcers scored his fourth goal in the past five games for the Sharks, who finished their four-game Southeastern road trip at 1-1-2 and are 2-4-3 in their past nine games.

James Reimer stopped 29 shots.

After beating San Jose 7-1 on the road 10 days prior, Tampa Bay found the going much tougher in the first 20 minutes of the rematch -- primarily due to the stout play of Reimer.

Just as a very brief five-on-three Tampa Bay power play ended, Killorn gloved a high pass from Steven Stamkos, put it at his feet and swatted in his 15th marker for a 2-1 lead with 1:52 remaining in the frame.

In the third period on the Sharks' third power play, Couture -- scoreless in eight straight games -- tipped in a blast by Brent Burns for the tying tally at 1:12.
