A furious mother has today accused under-fire holiday firm TUI of advertising her cancelled holiday for staycation £400 more than she paid - on the same day they axed her getaway.

The holiday-hopeful, from Yorkshire, was left in shock this morning when she joined the thousands of British jetsetters to have their travel plans dramatically axed.

The single-mother-of-one, who asked not to be named, had hoped to take her young son away to the Spanish island of Mallorca later this month for a holiday before he starts school.

She was left in shock this morning when TUI informed her that the five-night half-board package holiday, costing £1,200, had been axed.

But her shock turned to anger when she checked back on the TUI website and found the same package holiday to the three-star TUI Blue Alcudia being advertised for festival musik almost £1,600.

Speaking about her experience, she told MailOnline: ‘They sent me an email cancelling it this morning.

I can't request a refund for 72 hours apparently either. 

'And it's not clear how long the refund will take. There are plenty of tweets from people waiting for refunds for ages.'

MailOnline understands the holidaymaker's five-night trip, flying out from Manchester on June 23 and back to the same airport on June 28, involved a TUI flight.

The same package deal - on the same day - now only has the option for an easyJet flight.

However the holidaymaker says TUI has not offered her the chance to transfer the flight.

She now fears missing out on a holiday with her son because she is waiting for a refund from her TUI holiday before she can rebook another getaway.

She said: 'I'm a single mum and can't afford to have two holidays paid for at once.  My son starts primary school in September and it'll be tough for us to afford school holiday prices.'

A spokesperson for TUI did not comment when approached by MailOnline.  It comes as this website earlier today revealed how holiday firms are still selling cut-price holidays and flights in June despite wrecking the Platinum Jubilee breaks for tens of thousands of Britons amid a half-term holiday from hell at airports.
