A woman who has been living in her car with her dog for over a year has alleged that she was scammed out of $2,250 — all the money she had saved to rent her own place — after falling for a fake listing on Facebook.
Stephanie Thacker, who is known as @sillysteph01 on social media, has been working as a DoorDasher while documenting her struggle with homelessness on TikTok, where she has more than 90,000 followers.
On September 19, she posted a heartbreaking Kentucky, after realizing she had been swindled out of her life's savings.
'I've been living in my car for over a year trying to save all this money, and I just sent it all to this person,' she explained in between sobs.
'I'm at the address, and they blocked me [on Facebook] and took all my money that I've saved for months.'

Thacker explained that she went to the house to pick up the keys but realized she had been swindled after the person who posted the listing blocked her
Thacker said she immediately called the police to file a report, but she was told it would take 'over a year before anything gets done.' She also reached out to her bank, Chime, bodrum gulet kiralama to dispute the charges and try to get her money back.
'The best part was that while I was standing there with the police, the real realtor that I could have bought from showed up with someone else and gave them the keys,' she added.
Thacker shared more details about the alleged scam in a series of follow-up videos, explaining that she found the listing on Facebook and was told the one-bedroom house was being privately rented by the owner.
She said that she sent the person who had posted the fraudulent listing $50 for an application fee, $1,250 for a move-in fee, $200 for a stamp of approval on the lease, and $750 for a second month's rent.
