What are Core Values? You must have come across these two words a lot of times.

Core values are those vital few values that all members of the organization are expected to use, live by and demonstrate on a daily basis while executing their work responsibilities.I would like to give quick tips to you, I thought I will share with you something that you can do on a weekends.

This assignment comes from Tony Hsieh the CEO and founder of Zappos.com, now Amazon has taken over Zappos with billion dollars offer but I had the opportunity to meet
him a little over a year ago.

I was too keen to see the amazing culture that they had built in the company.

I asked Tony how he did this and if he could go back to the day when he didn't have a billion dollars but just a small tiny business. What would he do if his business was just getting ready? He walked me through this concept of building corporate core values.
So we came back from that and did a core value exercise which completely changed our company.

But I have taken it a notch higher. Before we go ahead and make a corporate core values for you, I want you to think what you need to first do. You need to really understand what your personal core values are.

What is a core value? What are the things that are most important to you? Because if you haven't read The Empire Formula book yet, there should be an opt in somewhere on the blog or anywhere on the site. In that I explain to you your Empire is whatever YOU want it to be.
It doesn't have to be hundreds and millions of dollars. It can be a few 100 thousands. It's just what you want it to be. But in the business you built it needs to reflect your personal core values that are very important.

I did an exercise recently and I think you should do it too.

It's an easy exercise and a great thing to do on a Sunday. I want you to reach out to 10 of your closest friends, and send an email. In the email I told them that they know me the best. I asked them to tell me about the things that they feel are the most important in my life.
What would be my core values if you had to tell me? I did this with about 15 people and I asked them to give me three. What I wanted to do was come up with five. They are right below this video and I put them on the blog because that is how important they are to me.

If you want to get to know me as a person and to know the type of company I am building, it is important for you to know that value that I hold the strongest.

You will see these values reflected not only in my business and in everything I do, but also in the things and people around me. So I did this exercise on a Sunday but you could do it on any day of the week. May be a Monday or a Tuesday or any day.

It was just an email sent, and I saw a lot of consistent things in the responses I got back.
I agree with them too. So here are the five core values I developed that you will not only see in me but also in my business.

1. Live life for the experiences.I believe in that absolutely foremost. Life is not just about buying toys making money, yachts, mansions, cars.

Those are all great. Trust me. I want them, I have
some, but experiences are the things that for me make my life. Then having an opportunity to do something that no one else has done or a once in a life time opportunity that's huge!

2. Always help when you can.This can be in anything, whether it's to allow someone to cut in front of you in Traffic or to help someone start their business, or to be a shoulder when a friend
needs some help.

I think it's a big thing for me personally to be able to be helpful and I pride in assisting people whenever I can.

3. Never stop challenging yourself.I think the day I am content with who I am and what I am, that is the day that I will be bored and out of my mind.
I just don't mean financially. There are a lot of
challenges. Personal, professional etc, but always be ready to challenge yourself.

4. Focus on loyalty and relationships.As you learn to build your empire from myself, you will learn that I believe that life is all about relationship.

It's all about network, it's all about keeping your
close group close to you and being loyal. It is not about competition, it's not about doing better than the other person. It's about doing great as a group. When I let people into my circle, it's about helping each other, helping everybody.
So I really focus a lot in life on loyalty and relationships.And last but not the least core value which is closest to my heart is....

Give back. Make an impact.I think that is absolutely key for me. Some of you may know that I am working on a non-profit called 'for all our good'. I work with a school here in Mumbai and I have
a big vision for that. That's going to be my legacy. It's not that I made a lot of money and bought Lamborghini's and Ferrari's.
Again, I may very well buy those, I like my toys, but not at the cost of helping others who need it. So those were my core values, they don't have to be yours, and I am not suggesting they are all. All I am asking you to do is take some time, do a quick exercise and
find out what your core values are.

It's going to shape the way you build your empire. It's very important for you to know, so important that at 3 am as I lie here in my bed, I wanted to make this video for you.
