affiliate of crypto giant Binance has carried out a round of layoffs since regulators last week charged it with violating securities laws and sought to freeze its assets, said two people with knowledge of the dismissals and employees' social media posts.
A Binance spokesperson said Binance had an "on-site visit last week by the relevant authorities" in France.
The exchange "was fully collaborative and we met our obligations accordingly," they said.
A Binance UK unit, Binance Markets Limited, also asked to be removed from the UK's equivalent Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) register.
It was removed on May 30, leaving Binance with no authorised entities in the UK, the FCA's website said.
While the SEC crackdown on Binance.US has raised questions over its future, traders say dealing with Binance is unavoidable.
It is the world's largest exchange with around 60% of trading volumes globally, according to Kaiko data.
